Vera Schweitzer and the Naming of the Vera Institute of Justice

The namesake of a leading New York City and now national organization was a leading female philanthropic and business leader of the early 20th Century, Rebecca “Vera” Scwheitzer, whose story has been overlooked until now.  Learn about this one-time president of a major international corporation, founder of a hospital in Tiberias, and recipient of the French Légion d'Honneur, and learn how her name came to adorn the leading criminal justice research and reform organization in the nation and what that means today.  Speakers include Joel Levy, former President and CEO of the Center for Jewish History; Herb Sturz, founder of the Vera Institute of Justice; and Kevin Keenan, Executive Vice President and Special Counsel of the Vera Institute of Justice.
